I’ve never been much of a local band lass, but the dudes of SHMNS have truly changed the game for me.

Enjoy Secret Shores by SHMNS (my personal fave)
You can download their music HERE and follow them on TUMBLR!

Oh! Let’s search for the rising sun
Where the ocean meets with the sand
She felt it in her mind
In the middle of July
Reflected in eyes
Was the color of the skies

And if I’d know what I know now
Of the beauty and the world around me
And If I’d know what I know now
An illusion projected lucid
And if I’d know I lost myself
In the question on my depression
And if I’d known what I know now
Just let the music help you through

This time my mind is fine
This time I’m fine
My minds alive!
And that I’m feeling around my body
Is all the I’m seeing all in mind?

Oh! Oh! I know it well
Oh! Oh! I want to yell!
Like love in the spring!
I’ll go and I’ll sing!
Love like in the spring!
I’ll go and I’ll sing!

All of you alternative kings and queens out there, this one’s for you.

Bangs by Brick + Mortar

I think I’m gonna make it anyway…

I’ve definitely earned the title of most inconsistent music blogger in the Tumblrsphere, but perhaps I can redeem myself over time. I keep saying I’m starting up the blog again and then flake out, but I promise that I will really try to get back into the bloggin’ grind and post at least every other day in the weeks to come.

I return to you with a song that’s my favorite of the moment…The Struggle by Grizfolk. The band’s name perfectly reflects their electro-folk sound.

Meeeep

Leaving the country in a couple of hours — will resume the theme week and sharing all of the music that I admire upon my return! So sorry and thanks for your patience. Happy new year!! xx

THEME WEEK! DAY TWO
Theme for this week is: FLOATING

Lost (Frank Ocean Cover) by TRAILS AND WAYS
The original is surely phenomenal but I adore how they handled this cover.

I haven’t done a theme week for months and months now, so let’s kick it off again. I depart for a week-and-a-half-long international journey on Wednesday, but I’ll queue up a sick playlist for you fine folks.

THEME WEEK! HERE WE GO HERE WE GO   ~*~*~*~*~ cue pouring of confetti and special appearance by that killer mariachi band from Dora the Explorer ~*~*~*~

The Theme for this week is: Floating
On a cloud. In a hot air balloon. On your bed with your headphones on. My job this week is to get you floating, and I promise I won’t let you down (pun intended).

This song should do the trick.
We’ll start with A tout a l’heure by Bibio

Just don’t be too alarmed when you find yourself floating off of the ground.

You will very likely have this on repeat after your first listen and/or will wake up to this song each morning for the next 96+ hours.

The Family Crest- Love Don’t Go

I also recently & randomly crossed paths with a male model who was the saxophonist on their track “Brittle Bones.” Fate is weird sometimes.

Yes, I did just spent a decent amount of time looking up various translations of the word “magnificence” (even in the language of song). However, to describe today’s song as magnificent is still an understatement.

This was my first idle weekend of the whole semester, so I devoted a lot of time to maxin’ relaxin’ and stalking the hell out of talented musicians (no shame, as my eardrums are grateful). I managed to become fixated on the sultry sounds of Sean Lennon and his ladylove, Charlotte Kemp Muhl. Together, they are (not only the most adorable couple on the block but also) The Ghost of A Saber Toothed Tiger, and tonight’s song is Jardin du Luxembourg.

Check out a live performance here from France that’s très magnifique and a snippet of their love story here.

Also, I luh this [via Wikipedia]:
"Charlotte hadn’t even heard ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’ when I met her,” Lennon said. “And she knew nothing about my mum. Her parents thought I was just a delinquent, by virtue of association with the famous hippie delinquents. So it was nice because it was like a bridging of gaps and a collision of galaxies.”

Yo.
I’m really back now. I’m done with the tomfoolery.

Please forgive me for my centuries of absence. Life is surely a whirlwind of adventures, beautiful encounters, mishaps, lessons… As most of us learn, when we lose touch with some things, we become more in-touch with other things, and I’ve been hella out-of-touch with this lovely music blog. However, I’ve still been taking regular dives into the music scene, and now I’m resurfacing to float around and share the underwater treasures with you lovely people. I’ve missed talking to all of you and hearing about your lives, so feel free to shoot me messages galore and fill me in on everything.

We’ll start with this one.

X Ambassadors- Unconsolable
I hope we stay
Thick as thieves, butter and bread
Pillars of colonial homes
And I wish I could shout you out
False start
Don’t get your cane caught in the cracks
Buckle your seatbelts, polluting the airwaves
Single and lonely

And you say you are
Unconsolable
And you say you are
And you say you are
Unconsolable
Uncontrollable
Come up to my house
Drink with my friends
You can lay on my couch
Aching to start all over again
We going back to your room
But wait a minute it’s my room
Was it something I said?
Was it something I said?

And you say you are
Unconsolable
And you say you are
And you say you are
Unconsolable
Uncontrollable

Come up to my house
Drink with my friends
You can lay on my couch
Aching to start all over again
We going back to your room
But wait a minute it’s my room
Throwing up on my bed
Was it something I said?
I said

I hope we stay
Thick as thieves, butter and bread
Pillars of colonial homes
And I wish I could shout you out
False start
Don’t get your cane caught in the cracks
Buckle your seatbelts, polluting the airwaves
Single and lonely

And you say you are
Unconsolable
And you say you are
And you say you are
Unconsolable
Uncontrollable

Come A Little Closer by Cage the Elephant

Took a shot of Don Julio with these guys backstage after they opened for Muse. My life will never be the same. Such laid-back dudes with huge hearts and hella talent.

Their new album, Melophobia, drops on October 8th. It’s going to be f#@!ing amazing. Brace yourselves.

This EP…
This EP is everything.

I’m still attempting to come to terms with the fact that it’s being offered as a free download.

I love this universe.

Move Togetherby James Bay

P.S. So sorry for my extensive break in blogging. I’m back in action, and hopefully more regularly in the weeks to come.
